Correspondence: Letter to Mayor and Council – Applicant (CHL Timberworks)
Letter from the contractor explaining the need for pilings at 333A and 335 Stewart Ave due to chain corrosion and storm stress.
Development Application: 335 and 333A Stewart Ave
Greetings Mayor and Council
We are putting forth a development application to install 1 pile @ 335 Stewart Ave and 2 Piles @ 333A Stewart Ave.
The reasons we have chosen to go piles and not only rely on the chains is we are finding that the chains while being rated for saltwater seem to corrode fast and require more than standard attention. That being said we also found as most do that during violent storms and low tide combos , the location of both of these docks do receive solid forces and add to the stress on ramps and chains.
We’ve completed all other aspects of the Documentation Prep for Transport Canada, DFO and DND.
We’ve conducted our own environmental report for both properties, these have been independently reviewed by DFO and DND, their in-house reports have also been included.
We’ve attached our documentation and, our intent was to complete tasks in this window opening, but alas we will be short on time, so will aim to complete in the next DFO window opening.
We appreciate your time and attention to our endeavour.
Cheers Lee Critchley Chl Timberworks
