Subject: Oil/gas to heat pumps campaign

Hi Kim;

Can we please add this item to the COW agenda .... same section as Councillor Mattson's $300 per resident ask:

That the Town of View Royal hold an information campaign to encourage and help home owners switch to electric heat pumps from oil and gas by providing basic information and directing them to some of the key sources of funding rebates and information.

The campaign would include:

  • A PSA in the fall newsletter (preferably in ad format ... ideally 1/2 page)
  • notice on the Town website and RSS feed
  • the firehall reader board
  • Media PSA and - should the motion of $300 per resident making the switch be approved - news release

So that residents have something in their hands, I also recommend a small budget of up to $3000 to develop and print a double sided rack card to be mail dropped to single family residences in the town. The $300 per resident initiative (if approved) to be a key aspect of the campaign.

Thank you, Gery
