1. CALL TO ORDER (Mayor Screech)
June 11, 2021

From: Elana Penner Sent: Friday, June 11, 2021 5:10 PM To: Mayor And Council Email mayorandcouncil@viewroyal.ca Subject: Chilco Park Off-Leash Dog Park Proposal

Dear Mayor and View Royal Council,

I am opposed to the development of an off-leash area within Chilco Park.

I’ve lived here for 16 years and due to my proximity I watch the activities in the park daily. Other than one alleged event that occurred last year I don’t recall any other contentious issue/conflict between dogs, dog owners and other park visitors. Everyone always seems to get along. The vast majority of dog owners exercise appropriate responsibility over their pets. Pups are (for the most part) kept under control. Everyone scoops. Dog owners usually stay in the open areas of the park, families/children usually focus their activities in the playground area.

It makes no sense to divide a popular, well used, multi-use green space in View Royal into single-use areas spaces.

Sincerely,

Elana Penner
