Subject: Noise/Safety barrier
Dear council,
I am a resident of Thetis Glen. Our neighborhood butts up against the six-mile road access ramp from the Trans Canada highway..
The residents here have a large safety concern with the number of accidents occurring at the start of the ramp from the Trans Canada. Your View Royal fire chief should have the number and frequency of these accidents to look at. With the current climate change issues and over 100 days without rain, a vehicle crash with fire would wipe out our neighborhood.
I would like the new council to engage the provincial transportation department in creating a concrete barrier and noise barrier together, where the current so-called debris/light reflection fence exists. Main Road highway contractors has already had to repair this fence and it would definitely NOT stop or prevent a semi-truck/gravel truck from going through into our neighborhood.
