Previous Council resolutions re: No Smoking Bylaw

Previous recommendation made by Council in regard to a proposed No Smoking Bylaw

At the April 13, 2010 Committee of the Whole meeting, the Committee passed the following recommendation:

a) No Smoking Bylaw

MOVED BY: Councillor Rogers SECONDED: Councillor Britton

COW-22-10 THAT the Committee recommends to Council that consideration of a No Smoking Bylaw within 25m of a tot lot be forwarded to the Parks, Recreation and Environment Advisory Committee.

CARRIED

At the April 20, 2010 Council meeting it was recommended that consideration of a proposed No Smoking bylaw be forwarded to the Parks, Recreation and Environment Advisory Committee.

The Committee of the Whole passed the following Parks, Recreation and Environment Advisory Committee recommendation at the June 8, 2010 Committee of the Whole meeting:

COW-38-10 THAT the Committee recommends to Council that the issue regarding a proposed No Smoking Bylaw within a tot lot or Centennial Park be tabled to the June 15, 2010 Council meeting.

CARRIED

At the June 15, 2010 Council meeting the following recommendation was passed:

6. Proposed No Smoking Bylaw

Councillor Screech noted that the Parks, Recreation and Environment Advisory Committee was opposed to a No Smoking Bylaw in tot lots and Centennial Park. The Committee felt that this is an issue that should be dealt with regionally.

THAT the recommendation from the Parks, Recreation and Environment Advisory Committee meeting held May 25, 2010 regarding the proposed no smoking bylaw be received.
