MTI BYLAW No. 643 AMENDMENT BYLAW No. 916

RECOMMENDATION

THAT Council give MTI Bylaw No. 643, Amendment Bylaw No. 916 first, second and third readings;

CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER’S COMMENTS

I concur with the recommendation.

DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT SERVICES’ COMMENTS

I concur with the recommendation.

BACKGROUND

The Municipal Ticketing Information Bylaw, No. 643 must be amended to properly reference the Zoning Bylaw, No. 900 in order to enable the issuance of tickets and fines associated with contraventions to the regulations within the Zoning Bylaw.

ISSUES AND ANALYSIS

With this amendment to the MTI Bylaw the regulations within the Zoning Bylaw will now be reflected.

Fines

Comparison with other municipalities regarding fine amounts has not been done at this time. Fines have been maintained at previous levels.

Staff believes that a wholesale review of the MTI Bylaw is needed, and that would be the time to consider fines more carefully to ensure consistency across both the region and the Town’s various fines.

TIME SENSITIVITY

Required as soon as possible to enable the writing of tickets and issuance of fines under Zoning Bylaw No. 900.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT Council give MTI Bylaw No. 643, Amendment Bylaw No. 916 first, second and third readings;
