COUNCIL REPORT
TO: Council DATE: November 10, 2015 FROM: Dave Podmoroff MEETING DATE: November 17, 2015
Tree Removal Application, 212 Shadow Ridge Place.
RECOMMENDATION:
THAT Council approves the removal of one (1) tree at 212 Shadow Ridge Place as requested;
AND THAT as per the Town's Tree Protection Bylaw 695, that two (2) trees be replanted (2:1 ratio) for this one (1) tree to be removed with the requirement that the replacement trees be of a native species suitable for the area with a starting height of 1.8 to 3.0 metres.
CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER'S COMMENTS:
I concur with the recommendation.
PURPOSE OF REPORT:
To address the request for removal of one (1) tree at 212 Shadow Ridge Place.
BACKGROUND:
The resident submitted a tree alteration application in 2012 (see attached application "A" and denial letter "B") to remove one of the trees discussed in this report. At that time it was denied and a request for an arborist report in the denial letter was sent to the resident. The resident did not pursue it further at that time.
Early this year the resident had cause for concern with the tree again as well as another on the property and a tree alteration application (see attached "C") was submitted to the Town on July 8, 2015, requesting the removal of the following two (2) trees:
- one (1), 77.0 cm dbh, Douglas Fir tree (Pseudotsuga menziesii) located in the back yard of the property on the south side, adjacent to Knockan Hill Park.
- one (1), 78.0 cm dbh, Douglas Fir tree (Pseudotsuga menziesii) located in the back yard of the property on the south side, adjacent to Knockan Hill Park.
