Re: HandyDart BC Transit Development of 2401 Burnside Road West

We are writing to ask that the proposed HandyDart BC transit development at 2401 Burnside Road West not be approved and any decisions that have been made to date be reversed.

We are very surprised and disappointed that community consultation did not take place before this Provincial Government made the decision to go forward with a project that would have a significant impact on our community.

We have lived in View Royal for 6 years and one of the reasons we chose to live at 2151 Burnside Road West was because it had a very much urban/rural feeling, close to the Galloping Goose, hiking trails, and salmon spawning streams.

While there have been a number of condos/apartments/townhouses built around us since we moved here the community is still a quiet and pleasant place to call home.

Our concerns are many; examples of greatest concern are:

  1. Traffic and safety concerns for the children that attend Eagleview School and their parents
  2. The environmental pollution from the bus fumes, back up beeps and traffic noise from in the beginning a few buses to approximately 90 buses operating from 4:30am to 11pm 365 days of the year
  3. Increased traffic from not only the buses but from the bus drivers and other staff driving to and from work
  4. The significant impact on those walking or cycling the Galloping Goose
  5. The potential to destroy the Craigflower Creek that will not only impact the beauty of the immediate and proximal communities but more importantly will significantly impact salmon that current use the creek for spawning purposes.

Please consider revising the decision to build a HandyDart facility at 2401 Burnside Road West.

Thank you

Neil and Richard MacDonald 4 – 2151 Burnside Road West
