Re: Proposed Development corner of Helmken and Burnside Rd
I’d like to add my voice to those who’ve already expressed their opinion on the proposed development on the corner of Helmken and Burnside Rd. I have read the staff’s report and thought that they did an excellent job on pointing out why this development as it stands is not suited for our area. I wholeheartedly agree with their findings, and will not repeat them here as I’m sure the Council is well aware of them all.
I understand that the Council made their decision last week when they voted for the option 3 which I fully support. What I don’t understand is why the developer gets to speak again just a week later when nothing has changed. Putting it back on the agenda this week is a waste of the valuable time and our tax dollars that could’ve been spent on other important things. Is the developer going to keep coming back and pressuring the Council until they get what they want?! Certainly seems like that’s exactly what they’re doing. They had their chance to say their piece, and must respect the Council’s decision, same as we, the residents do.
I’m writing to express my support for those members of the Council who voted for option 3 last week, and I trust that you will not waiver from that decision despite the pressure from both the developer and from within.
