Correspondence from Steve Kiernan regarding Invictus & Rezoning
Letter supporting Council's decision to reject the 'lackluster' and 'non-specific' Invictus proposal.

To Mayor Screech & Council,
I am formally writing to you my support of your decision of Sept.10/19 in regards to the option 3 decision rendered to Invictus, Mr. Foord and his rezoning application on the above noted property.
It was very clear to me, upon Mayor Screech's questioning to developer, Mr. Foord, if he had been working with city staff to come to an acceptable proposal that could be potentially presented. Mr. Foord, said he had conversation with staff but was obviously skirting around the question rather than being up front and honest about his limited interactions as questioning later revealed. In further discussion it was abundantly clear to me that Mr. Foord appears to have his own agenda in mind, not respecting city staff, Mayor and Councils recommendations when further questioning commenced. The more Mr. Foord discussed his intentions the more i felt uncomfortable with what he was proposing and saying.
As i understand this was Mr. Foords 3rd attempt to push through his agenda for approval and based on what i witnessed he did not have any substantial info, documentation or professional renderings of what his true intents are for the development site. The pictorial depictions i viewed were lackluster, very non specific in actual building scheme and left a LOT of concern and underlying questions unanswered. Other proposed development presentations i have personally attended over the years where the developer is truly trying to get buy in from the cities and community will have an abundance of literature, professional renderings (almost proof copy), specific to what and how they show it will look like upon completion.
Development is an essential part of a thriving community and for the good of all but it has to be in a fashion that doesn't upset in change, scale or feel of the area and community. I heard several councillors mention that this property is the gateway into our community and any proposed development especially this particular property and applicants request is going to have to bring something meaningful that fits with the area.
Again, i applaud Mayor Screech and council for making the tough decision for the community on option 3 and to send the applicant back to the drawing board. I hope as such that you will continue to hold firm your position as rendered Sept.10th/19 until such time as Mr. Foord returns, has followed the guidance of Mayor & council and starts working with city staff as he has been asked to do several times now and has something more substantial and meaningful to present to the COW and community!
Thank you again for your time,
Sincerely,
Steve Kiernan 1235 Stancil Lane
