Subject: Invictus Development at Burnside and Helmcken...

Dear Mr. Mayor and Council,

I attended the meeting at Town Hall this past Tuesday. I was pleased that the City Planner did NOT recommend moving ahead with Invictus's current plan. I had to leave early due to an urgent phone call. I'm hoping that Council also rejected the plan. Quite frankly I was shocked and upset that Invictus doesn't seem to have made any meaningful changes to their proposal, despite requests and the time to do so. Too often NIMBY'ism can rear its' head when it comes to developments, but in this case, my objection to this development is that it's too big and in the wrong place! The massive tower they are proposing is obscene for that piece of land! I also take some umbrage at what I perceived to be the attitude by some on Council that you don't stop development "just because of traffic issues". A few years ago, council took great pains to prevent a freeway from being created on the Old Island Highway through the heart of View Royal and I applauded that decision; however, with all due respect, the traffic calming that was undertaken with the Eagle Creek development has created a bottleneck of major proportions. This current proposal would crank that situation up to complete gridlock and create a nightmare for local residents and commuters alike.

I urge you to reject Invictus's Development Plan. If they choose, they can return to Council and the community, with a plan that respects that location and the clearly stated concerns and wishes of the local residents.

Sincerely, Mark Finnis 1262 Stancil Lane
