Letter from Extreme Outreach Society Re: Financial Assistance
Request for emergency financial assistance to replace commercial appliances damaged by the heat wave.
Extreme Outreach Society
To Whom It May Concern,
Extreme Outreach Society is a non-discriminatory, local, non-profit organization with a vision to remove barriers caused by poverty, resulting in stronger, healthier communities. The mission of Extreme Outreach Society is to break the cycle of poverty, homelessness, and addiction before it begins. We provide unique programs and services for underprivileged kids and their families in an effort to inspire productive lifestyles and develop future leaders, thereby strengthening communities.
We have operated our Coffee House in View Royal for 6 years and love the community we get to experience here. During the pandemic, we helped provide food hampers to local families and residents, and operated our Coffee House normally after the lockdown was lifted. We continue to welcome youth in the Coffee House to train on-the-job in barista skills, light cooking, FoodSafe, sanitation, and customer service.
Last summer, our main fridges broke down and needed repair. One required new material and a later checkup when it was acting up again. After the last repair visit, all our fridges and freezers were working. But unfortunately, the recent heat wave completely killed one of our main fridges. Due to this, we have purchased a new refrigerated display case that will be used when we make some changes to our barista layout, which will allow us to move our self serve fridge to the kitchen to be used as our second main fridge. Our freezer and other fridge were also damaged, and resulted in us purchasing a new freezer before the current one completely broke. We were also informed that these fridges are meant to be used in an air conditioned environment, so we will be needing to upgrade our ventilation system.
We are aware that the official deadline has passed for Grant in Aid applications. However, due to this being a very sudden costly purchase, we wanted to reach out to the Town of View Royal to ask for any possible help. We have included the order invoices for the freezer and refrigerated display case, which total $5,859.42, and we are awaiting the invoice from the repair company. Thank you for taking the time to consider our request. Please feel free to contact us for any more information.
Sincerely,
Cliff Power, Executive Director
