An institutional setting was transformed into a community of healing thanks to many donors.
HeroWorks volunteers and donors did the heavy lifting!
The Jaymac Fund through the Victoria Foundation underwrote the native plant garden, fountain and pavilion.
From a youth detention centre, to a residential treatment “home” for adults.

Planting native trees and shrubs.

Waving grasses add movement
Pathways incorporated in the garden symbolize the residents’ new journeys.
The pond and fountain become a favourite place for meditation.
The koi are an endless source of entertainment.
Build it and they will come… nature embraces the Jaymac Therapeutic Garden.

Donors provided a greenhouse for the ‘work as therapy’ model and food sources.
Summer 2020: a carpenter teaches residents to build a chicken coop; the Horticultural Centre of the Pacific mentors assist with food production.

Renovated living areas
Art as therapy and volunteer-run yoga/meditation instruction by Ken of Studio Qi.
Computer station and coaching for obtaining diplomas and searching for work in the 3rd phase.
New Passenger Van
Thanks to the Peninsula Co-op and private donors a beautiful new van and driver now transport residents to numerous medical appointments as well as community outings.
