MEMORANDUM

October 27th, 2020 To: Ian Bruce RE: Hospital Creek Test Nourishment

In September, we built the Hospital Creek test nourishment plot to monitor the material over the winter to determine the effectiveness of nourishment (48.462009, -123.427693). We did this by installing a wood frame (5.7 metres long by 3.7 metres wide) and filling it with desirable beach material - sand and pea gravel. Soon, we will remove the wooden frame and monitor the material over the winter.

To determine how much material was in the test plot, we measured length, width and depth. To determine depth of material, we used a laser level for precision by surveying the height inside the plot versus directly outside. Once an average depth was determined, we were able to calculate the volume.

We will undertake another survey in the spring to determine how much material moved and in what directions over the course of the winter.
