Grants-in-aid requests – Shoreline Community Middle School and Shoreline Community School Association

RECOMMENDATION:

THAT Council consider approval of a grant in aid to Shoreline Community Middle School for a crossing guard position and Shoreline Community School Association for youth programs.

CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER’S COMMENTS:

I concur with the recommendation.

PURPOSE OF REPORT:

To bring forward requests for grants in aid received after the deadline of March 1, 2018.

BACKGROUND DISCUSSION:

At its meeting on March 20, 2018 Council approved several grants-in-aid to various non-profit organizations that benefit View Royal constituents. At that time, expected applications for youth activities and crossing guard programs at Shoreline Community Middle School had not yet been submitted. Council set aside the following amounts in anticipation of future requests:

  • Shoreline Community School: $20,000
  • Crossing Guard Program: $18,825

The attached requests from Shoreline Community School Association and Shoreline Middle School were received subsequent to Council’s decision. An assessment of the applications’ compliance with Council’s Grant-in-aid Policy is also attached for information.

RECOMMENDATION:

THAT Council consider approval of grant in aid to Shoreline Community Middle School for a crossing guard position and Shoreline Community School Association for youth programs.
