Grant-in-aid request – Strawberry Vale District and Community Club
RECOMMENDATION:
THAT Council consider approval of a grant in aid to Strawberry Vale District and Community Club in the amount of $17,202.60

I concur with the recommendation.
PURPOSE OF REPORT:
To bring forward requests for grants in aid received after the deadline of March 1, 2018.
BACKGROUND DISCUSSION:
At its meeting on March 20, 2018 Council approved several grants-in-aid to various non profit organizations that benefit View Royal constituents. Since that time, the Town has approved further grants-in-aid to applicants who applied after the March 1st application deadline.
The attached grant request for $17,202.60 from Strawberry Vale District and Community Club (Attachment 1) would support their replacement of eight folding tables and 200 folding chairs plus the acquisition of a table dolly.
An assessment of the application’s compliance with Council’s Grant-in-aid Policy and a listing of the Town’s active permissive exemptions are attached for information (Attachments 2 and 3).
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
The 2018 approved budget for Grants to Organizations is $95,000, of which $1,085 remains. Should Council wish to approve the request from Strawberry Vale District and Community Club, and due to the lack of budget remaining, staff has identified two options to do so.
- Option 1 – Fund grant-in-aid in 2018 through the Admin-Contingency account which has sufficient budget remaining.
- Option 2 – Defer consideration of the grant-in-aid to the 2019 budget process.
RECOMMENDATION:
THAT Council consider approval of a grant in aid to Strawberry Vale District and Community Club for the period September to December 2018 for a total of $17,202.60
