REVISED COUNCIL AND COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE 2018 MEETING SCHEDULE

RECOMMENDATION:

THAT Council adopt the revised Council and Committee of the Whole 2018 meeting schedule.

PURPOSE OF REPORT:

To provide Council with a revised 2018 schedule for Council and Committee of the Whole meetings.

DISCUSSION:

Currently the 2018 Council and Committee of the Whole meeting schedule reflects the Union of British Columbia Municipalities’ Convention set for September 10-14, 2018 in Whistler – dates that overlie the Town’s usual Committee of the Whole meeting date (September 11, 2018). To facilitate potential attendance at UBCM, Council decided in December 2017 to not schedule the September Committee of the Whole meeting and that any business matters that would have gone to that meeting, be instead moved to the second Council meeting in September (September 18, 2018).

Given the volume and complexity of development applications either currently submitted to or anticipated to soon be received by the Town, it is proposed that the September Committee of the Whole meeting be reestablished and held on September 18, 2018 with the second Council meeting in September moved to September 25, 2018 (see Attachment “A” for the proposed revised 2018 Council and Committee of the Whole meeting schedule). This revised schedule both facilitates the business of the municipality and is in keeping with Procedure Bylaw No. 677 that sets out a meeting recess period in the month of local government elections.

While September 25 is the regularly scheduled advisory committees’ meeting date, it is sufficiently distant to allow for rescheduling to a different advisory committee meeting date in September.

RECOMMENDATION:

THAT Council adopt the revised Council and Committee of the Whole 2018 meeting schedule.
