Mayor Screech called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m.

The Mayor thanked staff and emergency personnel for their hard work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

a) J. O’Farrell, 292 Bessborough Avenue, Re: Parking on Bessborough Avenue

Mr. O’Farrell spoke to Council regarding vehicles that visit the commercial business at 284 Helmcken Road and park on Bessborough Avenue. He requested that the Town send a letter to businesses of 284 Helmcken Road to discuss the parking situation and install “Residential Parking Only” signage on Bessborough Avenue.

C-41-20 THAT the following 2020 Grants in Aid be approved in accordance with Policy No. 1600-012 (Grants in Aid):

• 3rd Arbutus Scout Group - $630
• City of Victoria Canada Day Celebration - $1,000
• Greater Victoria Bike to Work Society - $500
• Greater Victoria Crossing Guards Association – funding for program at Eagle View and View Royal Elementary Schools – staff to confirm program costs/school and notify Association of potential opportunity for joint funding of program at Shoreline Middle School
• Peninsula Streams Society - $10,000 – conditional on the Millstream Creek Fishway Project proceeding
• Vancouver Island South Film and Media Commission - $500
• Victoria Sexual Assault Centre - $5,000
• View Royal Reading Centre - $30,000
• Wounded Warrior Run BC - $1,000
• Greater Victoria BMX Society - $500 – condition on Victoria Nationals event proceeding
• Capital Region Food and Agriculture Initiatives Roundtable - $500 – conditional on Good Food Summit event proceeding

AND THAT the unallocated balance of the Grants-in-Aid budget be set aside for allocation in the remainder of 2020. CARRIED
