The Draft Climate Action Strategy was received and sent to the Advisory Committees for further input before final Council approval.
"J. Chow and R. Webb presented the Draft Strategy, which aims for 100% emissions reduction by 2050. Public speakers raised concerns about the document's structure, the heavy reliance on resident initiative, and strongly criticized the inclusion of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) as a viable future option. Council agreed the document needed to be more accessible for the public and requested that policy and regulation actions be prioritized as 'short term' initiatives. The strategy was subsequently referred to the advisory committees."
